What is being studied?
Glutathione is a low-molecular-weight thiol present in reduced (GSH), oxidised (GSSG) and protein-bound forms. It is widely used as a biochemical reference for cellular redox measurements.
Analytical studies use defined glutathione standards to validate HPLC, mass-spectrometry, fluorescence and enzyme-recycling methods. Sample handling matters because oxidation can alter the measured GSH/GSSG ratio.
